Services: Troubleshooting

One of the main reasons for slow performance is that you may have a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) instead of a Solid State Drive (SSD). Replacing the HDD with a SSD is an upgrade that would require full two business days to complete. Your computer will be noticeably faster. Service would include coming to your home to assess the situation, bringing your computer back to my shop, transferring the system from the HDD to the SSD, then installing the new drive. The old HDD becomes a back of your computer from that date. With the new SSD installed, I will then do software updates including Windows 10. Lastly, I will return your computer and work with you to be sure everything is as you expect.

Another common reason your computer is slow is that your hard drive may be going bad. Upgrading to a SSD is also a good solution in this instance.

Other reasons for a slow computer is that there are too many programs running in the background, unknowing programs running, or a computer virus. Too much anti-virus software can also make your computer slow.

Adding more memory can also improve speed.

It also might be your internet speed. You may have a perfectly fine computer, just slow internet, like driving a Corvette down a dirt road.

This may be an issue of networking. If you have other new equipment, like a router or computer, your printer needs to be reconfigured. Getting all of your equipment communicating and working seamlessly makes life easier!

Other overlooked problems include dry ink cartridges or lack of paper. Don't forget to check the basics.

Check your connections or batteries. Mice do wear out, so if it is a problem with the button, you may need to purchase a new mouse.

There are a number of possibilities, and my best advice is to read and make a note of the error message. You can often do an internet search of what that error means by typing in the exact phrase or number given. The first question you will be asked when calling for help is "What did the error message say?" along with "What were you doing or trying to do when you got the error?"
